Ms Ranee Thakar, MD FRCOG, serves as a Consultant Obstetrician and Urogynaecologist at Croydon University Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at St. George’s University of London. She assumed the presidency of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in December 2022 and was honored in 2023 with the President’s Award for Outstanding Leadership by the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. Previously, she led the International Urogynecological Association as President, earning the Distinguished Service Award in 2022. Dr. Thakar has also received honorary fellowships from prestigious organizations, including the Indian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
With over 200 academic publications, Ms Thakar has significantly advanced the understanding and management of perineal trauma. Her expertise includes both conservative and surgical treatments for pelvic floor disorders, such as bladder and bowel incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and sexual dysfunction.
