He undertook his fellowship training at the world-renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, undergoing comprehensive training in joint reconstruction. He also received fellowship level training in major trauma and complex limb reconstruction in various specialist centres including St Peter’s/Rowley Bristow Unit and the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Canada.
After completing his fellowship training, he became a locum consultant surgeon at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. He is currently a Consultant at Frimley Park Hospital and their regional Orthopaedic Trauma Lead for the South London and Surrey Trauma Network and one of their leading revision joint replacement surgeons. As well as having a keen interest in research and education, Mr Nawaz frequently publishes on all aspects of hip, knee and trauma surgery. He has also given lectures both nationally and internationally and has presented many times at the American and European International Congresses.

I’ve just had my left hip replaced by Mr Nawaz via NHS Choose and Book. I’ve have felt comfortable ever since our first consultation 10 months ago, his expertise was obvious, his 1-1 demeanour is charming and he clearly explained the journey we have been on. This has allowed me to feel part of the process rather than having something “done to me” that was not clear. He is enthusiastic about his specialty, obviously taking great pride in helping his patients improve their ability to live pain free and with greater mobility. I have been particularly touched by the empathy he has shown to me, making me feel he cares personally about a successful outcome. A bond of trust between patient and specialist I am sure helps with recovery and I feel very lucky and grateful to be in his care.
