Miss Caris Grimes is a highly respected consultant laparoscopic general and colorectal surgeon renowned for her expertise in laparoscopic surgery  and her dedication to providing exceptional patient care. She specialises in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), bowel cancer surgery, diverticular disease, and laser surgery for haemorrhoids, anal fistulas and pilonidal sinus disease. She is also an accredited endoscopist performing both colonoscopies and gastroscopies.

Throughout her career, Miss Grimes has demonstrated a commitment to advancing the field of colorectal surgery through her clinical work, research endeavours, and contributions to medical education. Trained in some of the most prestigious medical institutions, Miss Grimes has honed her skills in laparoscopic surgery, specialising in procedures related to the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the colon and rectum. She also specialises in laser therapy for conditions such as anal fistula and pilonidal sinus disease.

In addition to her clinical practice, Miss Grimes is actively involved in research aimed at advancing the understanding and treatment of colorectal diseases, particularly Crohn’s disease.

Miss Grimes maintains an active interest in improving patient safety and quality of care. She has previous held posts including Associate Medical Director for Patient Safety and Quality and Non-Executive Director lead for patient safety within a healthcare system. She holds dual college accreditation, being registered with the Royal College of Pathologists as well as the Royal College of Surgeons and works as a Medical Examiner.  

She has an international reputation for research and clinical contribution to improving patient access to surgery globally and was a Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery.
