Mr Panayi is a top expert in his speciality, which is Urogynae. He is one of a kind and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I have had cause to see many different doctors of multiple specialities over my lifetime, many for misunderstood conditions. Mr Panayi really listened to me and what set him apart from the others is his unrivalled knowledge and passion for his work, and his care and concern for me as an individual. He took a keen interest in a condition I have which virtually no one has heard of or understands i.e. Multiple Drug Intolerance Syndrome - in addition to all my urogynae issues. My Panayi really wanted to get to the root cause of all my symptoms. He tried to sort out all of my other problems too, asking the GP to refer me to various other specialities. (She commented that “he has asked a lot”.) In fact, he seemed aggrieved on my behalf that I had not been able to get treatment. I have no doubt that Mr Panayi knows what he is talking about, I have seen others for urogynae and there is no comparison. (I saw an NHS consultant today, for which I waited nearly a year. I have been discharged, a total waste of time, sadly.) I am very grateful that my GP took Mr Panayi’s suggestion that I be referred on the NHS to see him in Leatherhead. I have an appointment for January. I know I may well not get to see him personally, but am hoping that anyone working under his guidance will help. All the staff at the New Victoria Hospital were so helpful.

I saw My Panayi as an NHS patient in the Urogynae Clinic at St Helier Hospital. I found him to be polite, a good listener and easy to talk to. He arranged for me to have and has since performed a cystoscopy to help diagnose my bladder problems and also another surgical procedure. However, as there are no dedicated Urogynae Post-Op clinics, I was unable to see Mr Panayi for my Post-Op follow-up appointment. This is unfortunately because, his waiting time for appointments to see him is now 10 months and my post-Op follow-up time frame was 3-4 months. As Mr Panayi gets so booked up, it is doubtful I will be able to see him at my next follow-up appointment as well, unless I am willing to wait 10 months to see him. This saddens me, as a good doctor-patient relationship is important to me, which can't happen if you keep seeing different doctors. Mr Panayi is an excellent Consultant, but it is very hard to see him as an NHS patient and unfortunately I can't afford to pay to see him as a private patient.
