Mr Martin Holt is a nationally and internationally recognised arthroscopic specialist in shoulder and elbow surgery based in Manchester. From his private clinics at The Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle and the Spire Regency Hospital, Macclesfield, Mr Holt specialises in Arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) and arthroplasty (joint replacement surgery) of the shoulder and elbow.
Rugby, football, golf, skiing, and tennis are some of the sports associated with shoulder and elbow injuries regularly treated by Mr Holt, who also manages complex fractures of the upper limb. In addition to his private practice, Mr Holt also dedicates his time to trauma victims with the NHS at the University Hospital of South Manchester, where he has been chairman of the orthopaedic audit since 2018.
Mr Holt has 20 years experience teaching arthroscopic and arthroplasty surgery to UK and European shoulder and elbow surgeons. He is the head of the teaching faculty for the Sheffield shoulder arthroplasty course and is chairman of the BESS* education committee, overseeing the ongoing development of shoulder and elbow surgery in the UK.
Mr Holt has demonstrated new techniques for shoulder arthroscopy in live surgery and has been invited to lecture on numerous shoulder and elbow arthroscopy and arthroplasty courses in the UK and Europe since 1996. He has reviewed numerous research papers and is author and editor of the G.O.S.T., a Guide for Orthopaedic Surgeons and Therapists.
