Mr Ioannis Aktselis is a renowned consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in foot and ankle Surgery and lower limb reconstruction based in Buckinghamshire. He focuses principally on ankle arthroscopy, ankle and foot pain, bunion surgery, plantar fasciitis and sports injuries.
Mr Aktselis received his trauma and orthopaedic training in Athens, Greece, and later in the UK. His subspecialty training includes a Trauma Fellowship at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, and a Foot and Ankle and Limb Reconstruction Fellowship at Bristol Royal Infirmary. Additionally, he undertook a traveling fellowship at Tampa General Hospital, Florida, where he trained with Dr Roy Sanders, a leading figure in foot and ankle surgery.
With a strong academic foundation, Mr Aktselis holds an MSc in Health Management and a PhD (awarded with distinction) focusing on the surgical management of hip fractures.
His research has been widely recognised, with over 350 citations in peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented at numerous national and international orthopaedic conferences. Known for his dedication to teaching and training, he was named Trainer of the Month at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and received a Care Award for his exceptional and compassionate patient care. Mr Aktselis also serves as the major trauma lead for the trust.
