Mr Ioannis Prionidis is a distinguished consultant vascular surgeon based in Chelmsford, Essex who specialises in the treatment of varicose veins, thread veins, and abdominal aortic aneurysm. With over 30 years’ experience, Mr Prionidis performs the full range of arterial, venous and vascular access surgery, including same-day surgery and minimally invasive (keyhole) procedures such as sclerotherapy.
Mr Prionidis, who runs a vein centre as well, originally qualified from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1989. He then completed extensive vascular and general surgery training, first in Greece and then in the UK, before going on to obtain an MD from the University of Thrace in 1992. Mr Prionidis accomplished a prestigious vascular and endovascular fellowship at the renowned New York Presbyterian Hospital in the USA, and is currently the clinical lead for vascular surgery at Broomfield Hospital.
Further to his highly skilled practice, Mr Prionidis is a leading figure in clinical research and medical development. He has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and also has a PhD in Biomechanical/Mechanical Engineering from Anglia Ruskin University for his investigation on the use of engineering technology for intermittent pneumatic compression and venous haemodynamics of the lower limb.
