Dr Irene De Francesco is a leading consultant clinical oncologist based in London. With over ten years of experience, Dr De Francesco is highly experienced in treating a number of conditions including keloids, Dupuytren’s disease, Ledderhose disease, skin cancer, as well as colorectal cancer and.
Notably, Dr De Francesco trained at the esteemed Sapienza University before obtaining her Doctor of Medicine at said university. She was then a research fellow at the Royal Marsden Hospital from her third year of clinical oncology training. She currently practices at the London Bridge Hospital, the HCA Leaders in Oncology Care clinic, and the Harley Street Clinic, all located in central London. She is also a consultant clinical oncologist at the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She is an expert when it comes to a host of different radiotherapy techniques, including stereotactic radiotherapy, IMRT, IGRT, skin brachytherapy, orthovoltage and superficial radiotherapy.
Dr De Francesco has an extensive background in medical research, having published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has worked as a clinical research fellow at a number of British hospitals, such as the Royal Marsden and University College Hospital. She conducted research into modern radiotherapy techniques to treat anal cancer at The Royal Marsden Hospital, and at University College Hospital, she joined the consortium for the European project INSERT. This project led to the development of an integrated single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) MRI system for assessment of treatment response during and after chemo-radiotherapy.
