Mr Sam Rajaratnam is a world-renowned consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee replacement surgery and sports injuries of the knee. With over 7,000 knee replacements performed and one of the lowest revision rates on the UK National Joint Registry, he is a leader in achieving excellent outcomes and pioneering rapid recovery techniques to minimise pain after surgery.
An expert in robotic-assisted knee replacement, Mr Rajaratnam was the first to introduce ROSA robotic technology to the UK private sector. He has also performed over 2,000 ACL reconstructions and soft tissue procedures, often as day cases, treating professional athletes and members of the Professional Football Association. He is a faculty member of the FIFA Football Medicine Conference.
Mr Rajaratnam graduated with a First-Class degree in Anatomy and an MBBS from Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital in 1997. He completed advanced orthopaedic training in the UK and Australia, earning the Walter Mercer Gold Medal in 2006. Appointed as a Consultant in 2008, he has an international reputation for innovation in knee surgery and frequently mentors surgeons in cutting-edge techniques.
