Mr Samuel Rajaratnam

I was operated on by Mr Sam Rajaratnam for a complex total knee replacement. From the first consultation I had with Sam I was impressed by how unhurried he was and how he carefully explained what he proposed to do. I came away from that consultation relaxed and confident that I was in safe hands. But there is so much more. Sam has created a team of himself, an anaesthetist Dr Barry Phillips and a nurse Christine Howis who are a formidable trio. They act as one and take the time to explain things slowly and in detail and explain fully the pros and cons of any options available. The pain relief was 100% effective and I can confirm that from the time I entered the hospital until I left on day four I was never in any pain. The treatment was exemplary. Needless to say any questions I asked of the team was answered promptly and fully explained in an unhurried and friendly manner. I also feel that Sam's practice managers/secreterial staff Venetia and Daisy were always friendly and efficient and responded to any query promptly and in a friendly unhurried manner. So all in all a dream team who I can strongly recommend. And there is yet more! Sam has teams of physiotherapists in different areas associated with his practice who call on you at your home both pre and post op and arrange for the delivery of an ice machine and setting it up for you. What more can I say? So here I am about six weeks post op walking with one crutch which I don't really need and having booked Sam and his team to do the other knee in the not too distant future!

I have had knee replacement in both legs under the care of Mr Sam Rajaratnam at The Horder Centre in Crowborough East Sussex, both procedures were successful. The first was a year ago and I was driving my car after three weeks and the second was three weeks ago and I was given the ok to drive after two weeks by Mr Rajaratnam, the criteria being able to do an emergency stop without any problems. After both operations there was very good pain control and no complications. I highly recommend Mr Rajaratnam who is very experienced and knowledgeable. After both operations he visited me on the following day for a chat and answered any questions I had and I always felt confident under his care.

Sam was amazing through my whole operation process. I felt very heard when I had concerns or questions and when the actual operation came along he made me feel relaxed. My sister used Sam to operate on her knee 10 years ago and hasn’t had any problems since! I’m hoping the same will be for me, I’m sure it will as Sam is constantly developing new technologies to make the process as seamless as possible. The way I was able to walk without crutches after one week and barely taking pain killers was incredible, other people who I followed on social media were taking much longer to get to that point. So amazed with the recovery so far and highly recommend using Sam! Also a special mention to Dr Barry Phillips his anaesthetist is also amazing, I felt immediately comfortable and reassured during the process! Even when receiving the injection to put me to sleep he made me feel so at ease.

I had a full knee replacement on 11/03/24 at Cleveland Clinic under the excellent care of Sam Rajaratnam. the procedure went smoothly and i had no pain during or after recovery. Sam was honest & explained everything to me at our first consultation, & I immediately liked him & trusted him. Sam has performed over 7,000 knee replacement operations and he has pioneered many details and thereby changed a painful, difficult procedure into a tolerable, less painful one. Sam has a wonderful team working with him, including Barry (anaesthetist), Christine, (Nurse consultant) Vinny (practice manager) & others. I hope that i do not have to have a knee replacement on my right knee, but if i do i would not look at any other doctor or team other than Sam & his team.
