Dr Smruta Shanbhag is a highly qualified and registered surgeon specialising in gynaecology and gynaecological oncology. She specialises in heavy periods, fibroids, abnormal smear tests, endometriosis, ovarian cancer, and colposcopy. She currently practises at The Harborne Hospital. 

She graduated from Goa University in 1995 and pursued a postgraduate degree in Gynaecology in 1998, during which she conducted research on ultrasound examinations of pelvic masses. Her medical training began in Aberdeen, Scotland, focusing on obstetrics and gynaecology, and she completed her specialist training at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, earning certifications in both gynaecology and gynaecological oncology.

At University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire and HCA Harborne in Birmingham, she is the sole consultant offering gynaecological oncology services in the private sector for Coventry and Warwickshire. Dr Shanbhag has a strong passion for minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. In addition to her clinical work, she participates in GMC and Royal College examinations and is involved in teaching at Warwick Medical School.

Dr Shanbhag has authored numerous publications in the field of gynaecological oncology. She provides a personalised, one-stop service for women facing various issues, including menstrual irregularities, postmenopausal bleeding, elevated CA125 levels, menopause management, hormone replacement therapy, abnormal cervical smears, colposcopy, vulval conditions, pelvic masses, risk-reducing surgeries for BRCA mutations, ovarian cancer screenings, and treatment for gynaecological cancers affecting the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, all following multidisciplinary consultations as per Department of Health guidelines.
