Miss Sophie Helme is a consultant breast, oncoplastic and cosmetic surgeon based in Farnham, Surrey and Havant, Hampshire, who specialises in breast cancer and breast lumps. She privately practises at Spire Clare Park Hospital and Spire Portsmouth Hospital and for the NHS at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.
She is passionate about breast surgery, developing her enthusiasm for her specialism as a medical student on the Edinburgh Breast Unit at The University of Edinburgh. She continues to nurture her passion today by putting a skilled mix of scientific and technical advances, creative challenges and the need for empathetic communication skills into practice.
As well as oncoplastic breast surgery, Miss Helme is significantly adept in consultations in and providing treatment for family history of breast cancer, breast pain and nipple discharge, alongside annual breast assessments and size, shape or appearance modifications.
Miss Helme is a highly-qualified professional with a wealth of educational achievements and expert higher training. She is one of the very few surgeons in the UK to have achieved national selection for specialist training fellowships in both oncoplastic and cosmetic breast surgery.
She has an MBChB from the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2002. Following this, she achieved an MSc in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London in 2008 and was awarded a prestigious Gold Medal prize for achieving the highest score in the Royal College of Surgeons of England's final exit examination (FRCS) in 2012.
Alongside her consultancy work, she is a trainer at Queen Alexandra Hospital and her research work has been widely published. She is a member of the Association of Breast Surgeons and a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
