Professor Duncan Tennent is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon with over 20 years of experience in shoulder and elbow surgery. His clinical work focuses on the treatment of shoulder and elbow injuries, with a particular interest in arthroscopic surgery and complex reconstructions following trauma.
He graduated in 1992 from St Bartholomew’s Hospital and completed his training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, followed by a prestigious fellowship in arthroscopic surgery in Virginia, USA. In 2003, he was appointed consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery at St George’s Hospital in London, and in 2018, he attained the title of professor.
Prof. Tennent has developed innovative techniques, such as the patented “Tightrope” procedure for acromioclavicular joint reconstruction. He combines his clinical practice at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital and the Portland Place Outpatient Centre with his academic and educational work, delivering lectures at both national and international levels.
Professor Tennent has also held key roles in medical education, including serving as Director of the SWLEOC Orthopaedic Education Centre and as an examiner for the FRCS (Orth). He is an active member of renowned professional organisations such as the British Shoulder & Elbow Society and the British Orthopaedic Association, solidifying his status as a leading figure in his speciality.
