Mr Vanash Patel is a leading colorectal and general surgeon with over 20 years of experience. Mr Patel is highly experienced in a wide range of colorectal conditions and treatments. His areas of expertise include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, colonoscopy, haemorrhoid surgery, anal fistula and laparoscopic hernia surgery.
Mr Patel currently practises privately at Spire Bushey Hospital. He works with the patient to ensure that the best possible treatment plan is decided upon, always putting the patient’s needs first. He also has extensive experience in the public sector, and currently practises at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Patel first qualified with an MBBS from St George’s, University of London, before going on to receive an MSc in Surgical Science and a PhD from Imperial College London. He has completed many fellowships at some of the UK’s leading centres of excellence in colorectal care and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Patel is also a renowned medical educator and researcher. He is an honorary clinical senior lecturer at Imperial College London, and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

had my first consultation meeting with vanash on 7th oct.
prompt diagnostics were made.
further tests were arranged urgently, leading to surgery on 15th oct.
met vanash again on 5th, nov for post surgery review.
surgery has been successful, recovering now and gradually getting back to normal activities.
vanash and his supporting team has been thoroughly diligent and provided excellent medical and patient care to me.
this is much appreciated.

I would like to thank you an your team for saving my life. I am so grateful to you and your team for your care from consultants to doctors and nursing staff! Could not have asked for better care than what was received. Once again, thank you Miss Antoniette Jackson.
Only problem was my roon wasnt clean the bathroom had flies in there, the bins were not emptied daily and the cleaners used the same cloth for everything!

Mr Patel is an outstanding Doctor of the highest calibre. From our first meeting he installed me with confidence. He has a rare ability in being able to deliver difficult and complex information in a calm and easy to understand manner. Everything was carefully explained, with all possible outcomes. He took time to check my understanding and we discussed my individual situation and the optimum pathway through it. The procedure was completed quickly and effeciently. The first time I met Mr. Patel was when I was already in hospital and needed the care of a colorectal surgeon. Before carrying out the operation he telephoned my daughter before and after the operation to appraise her of the situation.
He did listen to what I was saying.
