Dr Vishal Jayakar is a mightily esteemed consultant haematologist at New Victoria Hospital and a senior consultant haematologist at Kingston Hospital, where he leads the haemato-oncology and transfusion services.
Dr Jayakar is also a prolific speaker and educator with academic teaching roles at King's College London and Imperial College London. Dr Jayakar has been invited to speak at numerous international workshops in countries including Switzerland, Italy, Oman, Kuwait, Jamaica, India, and Sri Lanka. He is highly is skilled in managing a wide range of malignant and benign haematological conditions, such as lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia, red cell disorders, and thrombosis.
He completed his medical education and postgraduate training at King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai, India, graduating with seven distinctions. He furthered his experience at University College Hospital and the Royal Marsden in London, earning his MRCP qualification in 2004. He completed his specialist haematology training at Imperial College NHS Trust, which includes Hammersmith, St Mary’s, and Royal Free Hospitals, and received his FRCPath in haematology in 2008.
Dr Jayakar is a senior lecturer at Imperial College London and the lead for education and training at King’s College London. Passionate about teaching, he runs popular FRCPath courses that have been attended by senior haematology trainees in the UK and Ireland since 2012. He co-organises and serves as the primary tutor for Imperial College London’s haematology courses alongside Professor Barbara Bain. Dr Jayakar has conducted teaching workshops and delivered invited lectures across Europe, the UAE, Singapore, India, Sri Lanka, as well as the UK and Ireland.
