Mr Charles is a specialist lower limb Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in knee replacement surgery, hip replacement surgery, knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), meniscal repair, cartilage treatments, foot surgery, toe pain, bunions, and Morton's neuroma.
After obtaining an Honours degree, Mr Charles qualified as a doctor from UCL Medical School in 2004. He completed his Orthopaedic training in the London Deanery. Whilst in training, Mr Charles gained a postgraduate Master’s degree in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Mr Charles was awarded The Charnley Latta Travelling Scholarship and completed an internationally renowned Fellowship at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. There he undertook specialist training from leading surgeons in all aspects of hip and knee surgery and gained exposure to the latest techniques in foot and ankle surgery.
On his return to England, he was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon for Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, and works at both Darent Valley and Queen Mary’s Hospitals. He focuses on a variety of sub-specialties within orthopaedics, including joint replacement, sports injuries, and trauma surgery.
Mr Charles is committed to higher surgical training and has gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education, is a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers and also teaches Advanced Trauma Life Support.
