Professional statement

Mr Mark Proctor is a leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon, based at New Victoria Hospital in London. He has a deep interest in shoulder surgery, with a special focus on arthroscopic techniques. His expertise also extends to arthroscopic knee surgery, and he addresses various upper limb issues.

Mr Proctor completed his medical education at Queens’ College, Cambridge, followed by The London Hospital in Whitechapel. His extensive training laid a solid foundation in general orthopaedics, with a particular emphasis on major trauma care during his two-year tenure at The London Hospital, coinciding with the establishment of the Helicopter Emergency Service.

In 1995, Mr Proctor was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton. Following the merger of NHS services across Queen Mary’s Hospital and Kingston General Hospital, he continued his practice at Kingston General Hospital. Initially, he performed a wide range of general orthopaedic procedures, including hip and knee replacements. However, since 2007, Mr Proctor has concentrated his expertise on conditions affecting the shoulder joint, as well as arthroscopic surgery of both the shoulder and knee.

Mr Proctor is a key member of a team of eight consultants at Kingston Hospital, where they provide consultant-delivered care to patients suffering from traumatic injuries. His current practice predominantly involves performing arthroscopic (keyhole) surgeries, particularly on the knee and shoulder joints. These minimally invasive procedures are known for their low impact on patients' lifestyles and their ability to promote rapid recovery.

Throughout his career, Mr Proctor has remained actively involved in professional organisations, including The British Elbow and Shoulder Society and The British Orthopaedic Association. He continues to contribute his knowledge and skills to Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he upholds a strong commitment to patient care and surgical excellence.
