Mr Mohamed Boshnaq is a highly skilled consultant general and colorectal surgeon based in East Kent who specialises in laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery for treatment of a wide range of gastrointestinal diseases, proctology conditions, and general surgery including hernia repair and gallstones. Alongside his NHS work at East Kent Hospitals, Mr Boshnaq currently provides laparoscopic services for private patients at Spencer Private Hospital in Margate, Canterbury and Ashford.
Mr Boshnaq, who is also an expert in inflammatory bowel disease, bowel cancer, haemorrhoids, pilonidal sinus and anal fistula, is an accomplished specialist. He originally qualified from Ain Shams University in 2007, one of Egypt’s foremost institutions, where he completed his MD degree and an exclusive surgery residency program. Mr Boshnaq was then named lecturer in general surgery at the university before relocating to the UK in 2012 to further his trajectory in laparoscopic and general surgery.
Once in the UK, and after passing a competitive selection process, Mr Boshnaq accomplished his higher surgical training in the South East rotations. This was followed by a prestigious post-CCT fellowship in complex colorectal surgery at the renowned Royal London Hospital, where he holds an honorary colorectal consultant post.
As a leading figure in keyhole colorectal surgery, Mr Boshnaq is also closely involved in the development of medical education and clinical research. He serves as a clinical teacher in general surgery at Kent and Medway Medical School and is, at present, the author of over 30 publications in peer reviewed scientific journals. Mr Boshnaq is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of The Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.
