Dr Christopher Broyd is a highly skilled consultant cardiologist in Brighton, who specialises in the diagnosis and management of patient’s with chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness and blackouts. He is an expert in coronary angiography and angioplasty (stent implantation), TAVI (keyhole valve implantation) and PFO closure. He privately practises at Nuffield Health Brighton while his NHS base is University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Broyd completed his medical degree at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2003, followed by training at some of the UK’s most prestigious cardiac centres, including Bart’s, Harefield, and Hammersmith Hospitals. He also holds a PhD from Imperial College London, where his research focused on cardiovascular physiology and the non-invasive assessment of cardiovascular health.
His extensive international experience also includes an advanced fellowship at the internationally renowned Hospital Clinico San Carlos in Madrid and consultant positions in both the UK and Australia enabling him to offer his patients a broad perspective on the latest cutting-edge techniques in cardiology care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Broyd is a dedicated educator. He has held an associate professorship at Griffith University, Australia, and supervises MD and PhD students, and serves as a PhD examiner. His current research interests lie in the use of machine learning and advanced programming to enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes in cardiac health.
Dr Broyd also has written multiple international publications and has contributed to several textbooks, has made presentations at global conferences and was a finalist for the Samuel Levine American Heart Association Young Investigator of the Year award. He's also a member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and holds an honorary position at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
