Professional statement
Dr Edward Petzer is a consultant cardiologist with exceptional experience in heart failure, cardiac device implantation, and faints and falls (syncope).
Heart failure management is the cornerstone of Dr Petzer's practice and he uses the latest technology in cardiac diagnoses and treatment for all patients, including those in need of device therapy. In 2019, he was the lead in device therapy at Darent Valley Hospital. Dr Petzer is a surgical device specialist who is classed as a high volume complex operator: he performs over 700 device implantation procedures per year, including the LINQ implant, pacemakers, internal cardiac defibrillators and cardiac resynchronising devices.
Furthermore, he is a pioneer in SUBQ technology, which is a novel way to implant defibrillators that wrap around the chest, rather than be implanted directly into the heart.
He is also extensively trained and skilled in the treatment of palpitations, dizziness, breathlessness, blackouts, falls and faints (syncope), and PoTs (postural tachycardia syndrome). Dr Petzer recently led the first NHS syncope service of South East England, and runs the one-stop clinic for faints, falls and fits at KIMS Hospital, Maidstone.
Dr Petzer is an avid scientific medical researcher. In 2006, his cutting edge research resulted in a poster presentation at Heart Rhythm in Boston. He has published numerous research papers in renowned scientific journals.
